PART II : Chinese Peasants and Workers Party
Many people believe that in China, one political party rules everything. At the same time, a lot of people are curious to know how this great machine works, which runs a country as big as the whole of Europe and with 1.4 billion inhabitants.
In China there is also a Parliament which works much like ours. Its name is PCC : Political Consultative Conference whose standing committee is elected every 5 years. Not to be confused with NPC ( National People’s Congress), an other huge deliberative body ( next chapter)
In Chinese PCC members are selected in and represents every level of the society in all the country and also for Overseas Chinese. PCC includes the CCP, patriots without any party affiliation and 8 major parties.
We are going to introduce these 8 parties of the PCC, the majority of which are 90 years old.
- Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang (RCCK)
- Zhi Gong Dang
- Nong Gong Dang Chinese Farmers & Workers Democratic Party
- China Democratic League (CDL)
- China National Democratic Construction Association (CNDCA)
- China Association for Promoting Democracy (known as China DDP)
- JiuSan Society (literally known as Nine-Three Academic Society)
- Taiwan Democratic Self-Governing League (TDSL)
What are the powers of the PCC standing committee ? Mainly :
– participates in the state power
- participates in the negotiation of major national policies
- the election of national leaders- participates in the management of national affairs and the formulation and implementation of guidelines, policies, laws and regulations
- actively playing the role of democratic supervision for the democratization and scientific decision-making of the country
- Etc…
PCC body also consists of delegates from unions, federations, associations, nominally independent members and special committees.
PCC is chaired by a member of the politburo standing committee.
PART II : Chinese Peasants and Workers Party
Is one of the eight non-communist, legally recognised political parties in the People’s Republic of China
The Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party was established in Shanghai on August 9, 1930, mainly high- and intermediate-level intellectuals in the fields of medicine and health, population resources and ecological environment.
It is a participating party of the Chinese Political Union and a friendly party cooperating with the Chinese Communist Party in the system of multi-party cooperation and political consultation led by the Chinese Communist Party.
The Peasants and Workers’ Party has established organizations in 30 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities other than Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and Tibet. As of the end of June 2017, the total number of party members was 173,000, most of whom work in the fields of public health, culture and education, science, and technology.
The successive chairman of the Peasants and Workers Party are Deng Yanda ( first picture), Huang Qixiang, Zhang Bojun, Ji Fang, Zhou Gucheng, Lu Jiaxi, Jiang Zhenghua, and Sang Guowei. The current chairman is Chen Zhu ( second picture).

Served as the Chief Education Officer of the Whampoa Military Academy, Director of the Political Department of the National Revolutionary Army Headquarters, Executive Member of the Central Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, Member of the Central Political Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, and Director of the General Political Department of the Central Military Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang.

Chen Zhu (August 17, 1953 -), male, born in Shanghai, hematologist and molecular biologist of the People’s Republic of China.
Doctor of Basic Tumor Pathogenesis, Institute of Hematology, Paris Seven University, France, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Foreign Academician of the National Academy of Sciences, Foreign Academician of the French Academy of Sciences.
Former Minister of Health of the People’s Republic of China.
The current Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Chairman of the Central Committee of the China Peasants and Workers Democratic Party, and the President of the European and American Student Association·Chinese Scholars Association, the President of the Red Cross Society of China, the Vice President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies long.
