Embark on a Journey through the daily life of astronauts!
Reliving the conquest of space and walking on the Moon and Mars is possible with the only amusement park in the world entirely dedicated to space: EURO SPACE CENTER, in the South of Belgium. From 7 to 77 years old, with friends, family, colleagues, during an internship or a school visit, the idea is to experiment with your body, but also your intelligence, the future of the human species. , far from his native land.
LHCH was invited to the press conference where our journalist was able to experience the many activities for himself!
“Through major works that lasted a year, we have now completely redesigned our Euro Space Center as a place that takes you out of the terrestrial world to immerse you in the total experience of other possible worlds in the universe, but within our reach: on the Moon and on Mars ”, explained the director of the center, Jean-Marcel Thomas, after a speech in front of an audience full of European and Chinese journalists! “Yes, the Chinese have just launched a second spacecraft to land on Mars from Hainan Island. Newspaper correspondents like Ren Min Ribao or Jie Fang are therefore all very excited to visit our simulations which reproduce, for example, gravity on the red planet “.So it was with childish joy that we began our discoveries!First, walk on the moon! An individual and very flexible mini-crane lifts you elastically making you feel as if you are walking in cotton wool! A gravity 6 times less powerful than on earth! We attach you in complete safety to this mini-crane and we lend you a virtual reality headset that immerses you in the landscapes of the moon! Total experience! Emotions guaranteed. But the most incredible thing is when the gravity changes to reach that of the planet Mars! So 3.7 times lighter. An astonishing contrast! The images of the helmet change to welcome you to the very exotic landscapes of a planet with warm and pastel tones. Then, discover the sensations of the moon landing! Thanks to an aluminum slide, you are first lifted to a height of 4 meters. Then you let go of the cable and the slide makes you feel the sensations of arriving on the moon when you leave the shuttle. Very nice but be careful, you need a little force to hold the cable. But a pretty representative of Wallonia Brussels Tourism (WBT), an agency that invited us, had to let go of the rope halfway through the slide! Everyone had a good laugh, especially the children who didn’t have any problems! Finally, the top, the Space Rotor where we experienced the force of gravity 3G which corresponds to the pressure (and acceleration) felt during the launch of a rocket! You enter the rotor which is round and 5 meters in diameter. You stand against the wall with 7, 8 people, arms outstretched, then the rotor begins to spin! The pressure sticks you against the wall. Then the ground disappears under your feet! But with the force of gravity you stay pressed against the wall! When we got out of the rotor, we had a good laugh with the Chinese journalists. There is also a space capsule for children for you to spin around on your own! The very professional Belgian television cameraman teams did not miss a second of the childish joy created by a visit to a local school. But now, make way for the intellect! Many interactive spaces questioned us about our knowledge of astronomy. There are also lots of great fun skill tests that show you what is required of astronauts in terms of psychological skills. We also tried the manipulations of mini-robots on Mars, thanks to radio controls linked to the machines evolving on a very realistic reconstituted terrain! In short, more than 2 hours in another world !
