SERIES : Is CCP the only political party in China?

FIRST PART : GUO MING DANG

Many people believe that in China, one political party rules everything. At the same time, a lot of people are curious to know how this great machine works, which runs a country as big as the whole of Europe and with 1.4 billion inhabitants.

In China there is also a Parliament which works much like ours. Its name is PCC : Political Consultative Conference whose standing committee is elected every 5 years. Not to be confused with NPC ( National People’s Congress), an other huge deliberative body ( next chapter)
In Chinese PCC members are selected in and represents every level of the society in all the country and also for Overseas Chinese. PCC includes the CCP, patriots without any party affiliation and 8 major parties.
We are going to introduce these 8 parties of the PCC, the majority of which are 90 years old.

China Democratic League (CDL)5.China National Democratic Construction Association (CNDCA)6. China Association for Promoting Democracy (known as China DDP)7. What are the powers of the PCC standing committee ? Mainly important advisors :
1. participates in the state power2. participates in the negotiation of major national policiesthe election of national leaders- participates in the management of national affairs and the formulation and implementation of guidelines, policies, laws and regulations3. actively playing the role of democratic supervision for the democratization and scientific decision-making of the country4. Etc…
PCC body also consists of delegates from unions, federations, associations, nominally independent members and special committees.
PCC is chaired by a member of the politburo standing committee.

FIRST PART :
1. The Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuo Min Tang


This party is currently the fourth largest party in the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China. It was established in Hong Kong on January 1, 1948. Early party members were mostly leftists and former senior military and political personnel of the Kuomintang. Soong Ching Ling, widow of Sun Yat Sen, the main founder of the party, is so far the only honorary chairman of the People’s Republic of China. At present, its party members mainly come from middle-to-upper-level personalities and middle- and high-level intellectuals who have ties to the former Chinese Kuomintang party members and have ties to various circles in Taiwan.
The Chinese Communist Party exercises political leadership over the National Revolution, but guarantees organizational independence and equal legal status. The Chinese Communist Party does not interfere with the independence and daily affairs of democratic parties.
As of the end of 2017, there were 30 provincial organizations, 275 prefecture-level organizations, and 131,410 party members.

The second picture is Song Qingling (the widow of Sun Yat-sen). She was named Honorary Chairwoman, at the same level than Mao in China.
The third picture is Wan E Xiang, the current chairman. He received his B.A degree from Wuhan University in 1980, LL.M. degree from Yale Law School in 1987 and LL.D. degree from Wuhan University School of Law in 1988. He is Former Vice President of the Supreme People’s Court of China.
