Zhuhaï, a modern and green city!

It erects its towers in a heavenly delta… where the Pearl River flows into the China Sea. Nearly half of the city’s area is given over to green spaces and palm trees abound. It’s gratifying knowing that Zhuhai is above all a special economic zone (to us duty-free shopping!) so a business city. In addition to its five advanced industries (high technologies), there is a heavy industry, petrochemicals. It is also a city of congresses, conferences, international trade fairs and, as it has its feet in the water, a seaside resort. Among the hotels it offers, some of the most beautiful high-end hotels in its province, Guangdong.

 The Fisher girl

It is erected on a rock, in the middle of the bay and it is one of the images that we take away from Zhuhaï. More photogenic, but less spectacular than this gigantic bridge which crosses the sea for 55km to reach Hong Kong! Yes, no doubt about it, we are in China, the country of superlatives.

Take the height is necessary to have an overview of the city. It is offered by the cable car that climbs to the top of Mount Shijing. Ideal view of the coastline drowned in blue, surrounded by green, on the spectacular tangle of highways. Somewhere, at the end of the delta, we can see two gigantic half-open clams, like listening ears… It’s the wink of the Zhuhaï opera! 1550 seats in the large 90m high clam, 550 for the small one, dedicated to chamber music. To admire more closely, of course, as well as other sites and attractions.

The new Yuanming Palace

A bet on eclecticism, a bet no doubt risky…but let’s be curious. Beijing’s Summer Palace, rebuilt identically, neighbors Western castles, with ramparts evoking the Great Wall… Further on, magnificent Qing-inspired gardens rival what was being done elsewhere in the world, at the same era. It’s as amusing as it is impressive, you have to admit.

Amusement park

There is the Chimelong water park with strong slides, swimming pools and other water games at (180 ha). The Parc des Perles with its thirty poles with more or less strong sensations: various roller coasters, slide cars, circuits for mini cars or racing motorcycles…

Another attraction but not within reach of all budgets: 30 minutes aboard a car on the international circuit of Zhuhaï (dedicated to GT and F3, renowned for its 1000km endurance championship).

The city museum

Surrounded by parks and gardens, this majestic building houses 13 exhibition halls. 5,000-year-old artifacts, sculptures, jade collections, various earthenware porcelains, paintings, calligraphy… There are also objects symbolizing the ethnic minorities of Yunnan and Guangxi.

Sun Yat Sen Memorial

It honors (and this is the case almost everywhere in the country) the memory of this revolutionary father of modern China, who became a statesman and a native of the province. In Cuihang, his house-museum has become a place of pilgrimage for the Chinese.

Endless Islands

The territory of Zhuhai includes 146 islands and is therefore a seaside area of great importance for southern China. 7 islands have an area greater than 10 km2. Only 2 km from the coast, it is a day trip favored by tourists. 90% wooded, it attracts lovers of shade but also of photos: its site grouping strange rocks, with mysterious shapes to great success. Apart from its two beaches with some of the finest sand…

Chimelong Ocean Kingdom

It is on the island of Hengkin that extends this huge amusement park dedicated to the marine world. 8 areas are working to promote its discovery, in a fun and educational way. Under the dome of the largest aquarium in the world, you can see practically all the fish you know or not evolve and even huge whale sharks, killer whales, sailfish…
